Training will meet Training Standard for EAGT supervisors and will be organized in 3 modules - each module lasting 4 days (12 days in total).
Training will include 72 hours of theory and practice (6 hours a day with 2 hour lunch break).
About the training:
The program will focus on a number of supervisory areas including, but not limited to, the difference between supervision and therapy; character structure of the client; relational issues between client and therapist (usually characterological, as well as situational); the wider field; risk management; supervision myths; and issues that will be raised by participants in the course of the program.
The program is balanced between face-to-face meetings with each other in small “support and challenge” groups that will continue to meet between modules and trios, which will be used during the modules to facilitate learning the skills through practicing. Work will be organized in many combinations of subgroups.
Leading focus of program for participants is to implement gestalt training as therapists and develop it into becoming supervisors. The skill of a supervisor includes the ability to educate and sharpen and for that she/he needs to understand the theory and be able to talk into it and teach it, unlike the therapist.
Supervision categories that will be part of the program and intended to sensitize the participants to a variety of conceptualizations, assumptions and impressions that can undermine the supervisory process. Some areas that will certainly be addressed are:
Personality functioning of the client
Personality theory/developmental theory
Client-therapist relationship
Client-therapist-supervisor relationship
Therapist-supervisor relationship
Theory of psychotherapy / Theory of change
Personality functioning of the therapist
Therapist – supervisor relationship
Clinical theory/Diagnosis/treatment plan
Business/Administration/Professional
Political/social/institutional issues, including cultural diversity.
